Teller - Full Time

Role:

To assist members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments by demonstrating the core competencies listed:
 
  • Relationship Building: Creating relationships with members that demonstrate influence, diplomacy, tact and trust.
  • Product Knowledge: Acquire information about how our services and products will support member needs/requests.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to convey information (written and verbal) to another person effectively and efficiently.
  • Technology Skills: Working knowledge of our systems to maintain data:
    • Data Processing System
    • Microsoft Office Products

Essential Functions & Responsibilites:

50% TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
  • Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders and travelers checks to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input and answering the telephone.
30% RELATIONSHIP BUILDING/COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • Welcomes members and provides routine information concerning services and directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service.
15% PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE:
  • Cross-sells credit union products and services.
5% Other duties as assigned.

 Performance Measurements:

 
  1. To troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.
  2. To demonstrate quality member service in the day-to-day business environment. Support co-workers, members, clients, etc.
  3. To consistently produce a high volume of work. Use company time and resources optimally, and meet schedules and deadlines.
  4. To maintain a positive, constructive, and supportive attitude toward members, employees, and the
    credit union. Demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and commitment related to job performance.
  5. To maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.
  6. To balance the teller drawer on a daily basis not exceeding outages established by the Credit Union's Valuation and Loss Policy.
  7. To maintain an understanding of organizational policies and guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Experience:
Up to six months of similar or related experience.

 

Education:
A high school education or GED.

 

Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.

  Other Skills:
Must have good communication skills for training other tellers. 10-key calculator, computer and Microsoft Office products. Must be accurate with numbers and names.



Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
